Cross Country

Nebraska has been a mainstay on the national scene since 1983. The Nebraska cross country team started a new era in 2012, as David Harris led the program following the retirement of Jay Dirksen.

The Nebraska cross country team excels in the classroom on an annual basis, as the men’s and women’s teams have combined to win 18 of Nebraska’s 36 Herman Awards, which is given out each year to University of Nebraska teams with the highest grade-point average. The women’s squad won the award six straight times from 1996-2001 and have captured the three of the past five awards. The Husker men won five straight awards from 2002-2006 and have won two of the last four awards.

The Huskers have also been recognized on the national scene with six CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, including two-time honoree Brady Bonsall. The teams have combined for 28 USTFCCA All-Academic selections, with Katie White and Ashley Miller each honored following the 2011 season.
